State laws mandate that all drivers must be insured by automobile
insurance in the event of an accident. Each state has it’s own minimum
required amounts of this insurance. Many states hold the responsible
party liable for damages occur from the accident the individual caused.
Other states are considered to be no fault states. These states do not
determine who was financially responsible, therefore the drivers in
these state must carry additional types of clauses in their automobile
insurance policies. Utah is considered to be a no fault state.
Residents of Utah must carry personal injury protection since it is
considered to be a no fault state. This coverage provides payments for
medical treatments in the event of an accident. The state minimum
amount required for this type of insurance is $3000.
Utah also requires it’s residents to carry liability insurance on their
automobiles. This coverage is used for bodily injuries and property
damage. Each driver is required to obtain a minimum of $25,000 per
person, or $65,000 per accident, of bodily injury liability coverage.
They are also required to carry a minimum of $15,000 of property damage
liability insurance.
This state is one of a few that does not require it’s drivers to carry
uninsured and underinsured motorist liability insurance. It also does
not require drivers to carry collision or comprehensive coverage on
their automobiles. However it is always a good idea to carry these
clauses if the individual can afford the higher premium amounts.
Utah is considered to be in the desert region of The United States.
This means that Utah typically does not get a lot of rain. However the
state does see frequent storms that produce large amounts of rainfall
in a short period of time. These storms often cause flash floods to
occur in many parts of the state. The state is also known for dust
storms as well in many parts of the state. The northern areas of the
state also see large amounts of snow periodically in the winter months.
These different types of storms are often the cause of increased
numbers of automobile accidents in many parts of the state. This is
especially true in the more populated areas
