| Automobile insurance is required in every state including Montana. Each
state has it’s own minimum requirements that drivers are required by
law to carry. Montana is one of the states that have average monthly
premiums that are below the national average. This is partly because
Montana has fewer people per square mile than many of the other states.
Drivers in Montana are required to carry bodily injury and property
damage insurance policies. These insurance policies must cover a
minimum of $25,000 worth of coverage for a single person that is
injured in an accident. The minimum coverage required for all injured
parties is $50,000. This is the same amount of coverage that is
required in the event that a person is involved in an accident with
someone is uninsured. Montana drivers are also required to carry a
minimum of $10,000 of insurance to cover any property damage that is
resulted from an automobile accident.
Montana, however, does not require it’s drivers to carry some insurance
clauses that other states do require. A driver does not have to carry
an insurance policy that covers an accident in the event that an
involved party is underinsured. This state also does not require an
automobile operator to carry any personal injury provisions on their
insurance policy. It also does not require drivers to carry no fault
insurance clauses. These clauses, along with others, are still
available to Montana drivers if they wish to purchase them.
There are other reasons that Montana has a lower average monthly
premium than other states besides the amount of drivers they have.
Montana also has some of the strictest laws for first time DUI
offenses. This helps keep rates lower as there are less incidents
occurring because of drunk drivers. The overall average of monthly
premiums is generally around twenty dollars lower than the national
average. However with a good driving record many residents have monthly
premiums that are considerably much lower than the average.
Montana drivers that owe monthly obligations on their automobiles are
still required to carry full coverage insurance on their vehicles.
These options are also available to people who do not owe any money on
their vehicles if they choose to carry it. It is always a good idea to
carry more insurance than the minimum required. This is because
Montana, like many other states, holds the person at fault financially
responsible for any injuries and property damaged that resulted from an
accident. |
